CFX_CyberCash 404 Error

Problem: When using Allaire's CFX_CyberCash tag, you get the following error:
"Location: CCMckDirectLib; Message: The HTTP server has not processed your request. Here is the response status that it returned: 404 File Not Found "

The error is caused by a syntax problem in the omission of a trailing slash on your CCPS_HOST attribute within the tag. Solution: An explanation of this syntax problem and a simple workaround are available at http://www.allaire.com/handlers/index.cfm?ID=14377&Method=Full .

Errors Writing to LDAP Server When Installing CF for Solaris with Advanced Security

Problem: The Netscape Directory (LDAP) Server that comes with ColdFusion for Solaris is set in a different default directory than current Netscape web servers. When installing the NDS, if you accept the default directory, the NDS will fail to recognize any installed Netscape Server on your system. Instead, it will install its own administrative version (2.0). This creates the problem.

Solution: Uninstall the NDS and reinstall it in the same directory as your current Netscape web server. For more information, see Allaire Article 14295.

Allaire Releases Patch for Spectra 1.0 Remote Access Service Problem

Allaire Security Bulletin (ASB00-04) announces the patch now available for the Allaire Spectra 1.0 Security Authentication System. The Spectra 1.0 Remote Access Service invoke.cfm template normally requires that users must be authenticated in the webtop security context in order to even attempt to use the Remote Access Service. However, without this patch, the user can bypass this.

Within this article, Allaire stresses that it strongly recommends that customers remove all documentation, sample code, example applications, and tutorials from production servers, as well as taking other precautions outlined within.

A Wakeup Call (Publisher's Voice)

By Michael Dinowitz

We hope that you've enjoyed the Fusion Authority Weekly News Alerts to this point. We try our best to make sure we get a weekly magazine out with all the news, reviews and information that you, the ColdFusion users, want. Unfortunately, there's only so much time in a week. This comes down to the articles that are written on Fusion Authority. Most of them until this point have been written by me, and doing an article a week can be very tiresome. So rather than giving you an article in this issue that is rather weak, I'm going to hold off and give you a better one next week.

But it's more than that. This is a wakeup call to you in the community to say, "We need you!" We can't do this alone. I know you enjoy my articles, and you enjoy hearing what I have to say, but I'm not the only voice. I'm not the only one who knows something. I'm not the only one with a cool idea. We want—we need—other people to come forward and write for us. We need people to write articles, to write reviews, to test products, to do anything that they feel would be useful to the community and to let us publish it. We are a community news site. We are for the community, and we are also by the community. I know it hasn't looked like it so far with me writing most of the articles, but this is the way it should be, the way it was planned to be, the way it has to be.

So if you have anything you want to get published that is of use to the ColdFusion community, anything at all (or almost anything at all), send it to myself, the publisher, or better yet—send it to my wife, Judith, the editor. She's the one responsible for the quality of writing you see on the site, she's the one that reviews the articles, and she's the one you're really going to talk to.

Getting in on the Action: JRun, Java and Spectra

By Judith Dinowitz

With the new technologies being incorporated into ColdFusion, the field has become too big for any one publication to cover completely. While Fusion Authority will be running occasional articles on JRun and Spectra, our focus is, and must remain, the core of ColdFusion.

Take heart, though. Some excellent resources on Spectra and JRun are beginning to spring up on the web. Chief among them are Allaire's new JRun and Spectra Devcenters, areas for the development of JRun and Spectra resources. Several technical articles on both technologies are being developed on a fairly frequent basis. These include case studies (articles spotlighting sites developed with the technologies in question), which are often a valuable help to programmers building their own sites.

Take advantage of these resources. Some of JRun's features will be integrated into ColdFusion by version 5.0, so it's only to your advantage to "learn the ropes" now. And Spectra, of course, is one of the next waves of ColdFusion development. Fusion Authority will do its level best to keep you in touch with new resources in the ColdFusion universe.
