CherryOS -- Hoax or Real?

Darryl Lyons provides several links detailing the battle between PearPC and CherryOS. Both are Mac emulators for the PC; but while PearPC (http://www.pearpc.net) is a free, open-source (GPL) program, CherryOS (http://www.cherryos.com) is, in theory, a commercial application. I say 'in theory' because the CherryOS Web site right now simply states 'please be patient' and has no actual product to offer. Sources claim that the CherryOS code is a direct rip-off of the PearPC code, and serves as an elaborate phishing scam to mine information from interested parties. Maybe this is why I own a real Mac!
