Let's say you had a CFM page that needed to run 100 operations. Normally you'd have to do each operation and wait for it to finish before starting the next one. Damon Cooper's blog entry proves that with Blackstone's multi-threading, you can do the same task in 100th of the time (assuming you had no other bottlenecks) by spawning multiple threads working in parallel, and assigning each thread to work on different aspects of the bigger task at the same time!
