Macromedia Involved in Nationwide Initiatives to Spark Youth Interest in Math, Science, Technical Careers

Intel Corporation has announced the opening of the first D.C.-area Intel Computer Clubhouse and announced, with the U.S. Department of Commerce, its support of GetTech, a public-private effort to educate youth about 21st century careers. Both initiatives aim to inspire youth to study math and science and prepare for technical careers. Located within the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington's Eastern Branch, this new "invention workshop" is part of a growing global network developed for underserved youth.

In addition to financial assistance, Intel will provide technical, career and volunteer mentor support to the network. For example, a team of Intel professionals will install the technology and networking capability to link Computer Clubhouse youth around the world and provide technical training to Computer Clubhouse staff and members. Additional support will come from Adobe Systems Incorporated, Macromedia, Inc., Hewlett-Packard Company, and Autodesk Inc.

Fusion Authority applauds this effort on the part of the tech community to reach out and help disadvantage youths.
