Terrorist Attack Reverberations Cause Layoffs at Fig Leaf

Sep 24, 2001
Steve Drucker, CEO of Fig Leaf Software, a familiar ColdFusion name, announced that the company would be laying off a dozen employees, or 20% of its workforce, by the end of October. Apparently the deciding factor was a loss in revenue immediately after the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. The article notes Steve Drucker as saying, "The precipitating factor was the terrorist bombing ... People just don't want to come into the District for anything right now."

We can only hope that this reluctance on the part of businesses, understandable in the immediate aftermath of the attacks, recedes with time.
