Fusebox Leaders Set Up New Fusebox Government
This announcement talks about plans for implementing a more formal style of government in the Fusebox community, one where all members can participate and have impact on the decisions made. The burgeoning growth of the Fusebox community is the impetus for this change. "We've outgrown the model of a few people informally making decisions about the direction of Fusebox. Instead, we want to have a more explicit form of 'Fusebox government' which will be implemented in 2002. There will be several levels of possible involvement."
- Fusebox Community -- All members of the Fusebox Topica list belong. This level is free.
- Fusebox Membership -- This will involve dues of some kind, to help keep Fusebox.org running.
- Steering Committee -- Once a year the Fusebox membership elects 13 members to a Steering Committee. The purpose of the Steering Committee is to float, organize, discuss and debate new ideas of concern to the Fusebox Membership and to elect representatives to the Standards Committee.
- Fusebox Council -- The Fusebox Council is a permanently seated cadre of Fusebox members who have been instrumental in the development of Fusebox. Currently, this council is made up of six well-known Fuseboxers (in alphabetical order): Hal Helms, Steve Nelson, Nat Papovich, Jeff Peters, John Quarto-vonTivadar and Erik Voldengen.
- Standards Committee -- The Standards Committee bears full responsibility for deciding what is and what is not considered "standard" Fusebox and for defining those Standards.
