This year's CFUN was loaded with just as many great speakers as previous years, and more. Particular attention was given to new users of ColdFusion with a beginners track, while the accessibility track not only got people up to speed in accessibility but in related topics, such as CSS, as well.
The keynote speaker for the second day was none other than Ben Forta, who went into parts of Blackstone, the next release of ColdFusion, that had not been spoken about publicly until then. It was but a glimpse of what he's been showing on his Summer User Group tour throughout the month of June. He'll be finishing up his tour of the United States user groups this week, and going on to Europe sometime later this summer. Blackstone is due to be released early next year.
While you're waiting for Blackstone, there are some exciting new products that were just released that you might want to check out. New Atlanta just released version 6.1 of their BlueDragon product. They've also announced the upcoming release of BlueDragon.NET, which will be able to deploy CFML code directly on the .NET platform. For those that missed CFUN and would like to know more about it, you can check out the interview with Charlie Arehart in this issue.
Matt Liotta released a beta of HE3, the new IDE designed for ColdFusion developers, to all attendees of CFUN-04. HE3 is modeled after the popular Eclipse editor used in the Java world, but with special features for CF programmers. We'll be looking at that in future issues, so stay tuned!
