MAXimum Tim Buntel

If I thought the time at the 2005 MAX conference in Anaheim, CA, went by fast, the time since has gone by faster. Everything's changing and growing and moving along at a pace we haven't seen since the web development heyday in the late 1990s. While at MAX I had an opportunity to sit down with a video camera and Tim Buntel, Senior Product Manager of the ColdFusion team at what was then Macromedia. Since then, the merger with Adobe has been finalized and I was afraid that the video I'd gotten with Tim was going to be outdated.

So I went back and reviewed it, and lo and behold the questions I'd asked him were actually applicable to any community of developers that center around a particular product or vendor and it was all still quite appropriate. I enjoyed revisiting the meeting because Tim is an awesome guy and we had a good time in general. So, after talking it over with Judith, we decided that, in spite of the time that's passed since MAX, we'd run the video anyway.

I also had a chance to sit down with some folks from VitalStream (http://www.vitalstream.com) while I was at MAX. Sara Willis, Director of Marketing, and Jim Byrne, Director of OEM Sales, took some time to show me what they had going on and I was impressed. VitalStream is the market leader in audio and video streaming on the web. With a network of over 1,000 servers across the globe and world-class web-based interfaces for each of their product offerings, they can provide media hosting infrastructure to any size enterprise. Because their server systems are set up to automatically replicate uploaded files to every server they run, data is streamed to clients with no lag, no interruption and no extra load on the webservers run by their clients.

They have graciously allowed us to host this video on their system, so I'd like to send a big thank-you to Jim Byrne. He was enthusiastic about their platform, and allowed us to demonstrate their tool while furthering our own message.

Thanks Jim!

And so, without further ado, on with the show!
