An Interview with Brian Rinaldi on Flex Camp Boston
Fusion Authority spoke today with Brian Rinaldi, blogger, FAQU author, and proponent of open-source ColdFusion, about an upcoming "Flex Camp" event he is running near Boston.
Judith Dinowitz:
So Brian, what is this conference that you're doing?
Brian Rinaldi:
They [Adobe] have been sponsoring a series of Flex camps that are run globally by volunteers such as myself, and I'm bringing it to Boston on a larger scale than most of the previous ones. There was one in Indiana that Bob Flynn ran that had 80 people. We're talking about 350 people registered here.
JD:
What made you decide to do this?
BR:
I felt that the east coast needed some love for Flex. There's been a lot of conferences for Flex, and mostly, it's been west coast. That was one big reason. I wanted to attend all of these things and they were all so far away.
JD:
Why Boston?
BR:
Boston is a hub for flex talent. With Adobe's offices here, and they have a lot of the Flex team here, this is a good location. Besides Adobe, which is in Newton, Virtual Ubiquity, the company they just purchased that's behind Buzzword, is in Waltham (where the conference is located).
JD:
Can you give us more details on the conference?
BR:
The conference is Friday, December 7th, from 8 am - 5 pm, at Bentley College in Waltham, MA. You can find out more about it at
http://www.flexcampboston.com.
JD:
So will it cost anything?
BR:
There's a $10 registration fee.
JD:
$10 for all that?!!!
BR:
[laughs] It's to make sure that people are serious about registering. Adobe is sponsoring the whole thing, which includes lunch. $10 doesn't come close to covering the costs. Thanks to Adobe for sponsoring!
We also have some very good speakers. Christophe Coenraets is speaking and Matt Woodward... You really get a lot for your money.
JD:
300 registrants... Is there still room for me to register?
BR:
Well, yes, there are a few slots left, but I think you'd better hurry.
JD:
Thanks for telling us about this, Brian. Good luck on your conference!
BR:
Thank you, Judith. Hope to see you there!
