Installing JRun 3.0 SP2a or JRun 3.1 on RedHat Linux 7.1 Fails

Customers attempting to install JRun 3.0 SP2a or JRun 3.1 (currently in beta) on RedHat 7.1 will find that installation fails. There is an incompatibility between the tar version that comes in the JRun 3.x Unix installer and the tar version that's shipped with RedHat Linux 7.1. Here's more information and a workaround:
