New Macromedia Headquarters Center of a Controversy

A lawsuit filed against San Francisco city officials last November by an organization supporting growth control could cost business property owners hurt by the dot-com crash even more. The organization is suing over the city's approval last year of a new 295,000 square-foot headquarters building for Macromedia Inc., which took advantage of a legal loophole to get around the 950,000 square-foot annual ceiling on new office space construction by classifying it as business-services space.
