Change in Developer's Gallery: Good and Bad
Over the weekend, Allaire has switched over from the developer's gallery they've had for the last approximately three years to a new one. This gallery promises to give more features to visitors through the use of Spectra. Personally, we find that Allaire's use of Spectra for its own projects is a very reassuring thing to people who want to use it. One of the things people may have been wary of in the past of is that Allaire had no project using it. With the publication of a project by Allaire using Spectra, we believe that people's fears will be calmed and interest will be sparked in this product.
There is also a major problem here. In putting up the new gallery, Allaire has severed all links to the Taggallery of the past. This means that the thousands of links on other sites, emails, and even previous issues of Fusion Authority, are totally worthless. I believe that this undermines confidence in the Internet, where a resource on a corporate website can be changed so massively without any backwards compatibility. We will strive to rewrite previous issues of Fusion Authority to have links going to this new taggallery, but as we have over twenty issues with hundreds of links to tags, this may take some time.
