PC Week Reviews the ColdFusion Server Enterprise 4.5.1 Beta

Feb 28, 2000
PC Week ran a very positive review of ColdFusion 4.5.1 Beta, citing the compatibility with both Windows and Linux as a new development, and noting ColdFusion's much-lauded ease-of-use. They tested the product and found it solid, with only a few bugs. It is encouraging to see that they chose the Beta version of ColdFusion 4.5.1 for their review, showing that even the Beta is considered reliable.

They did mention that ColdFusion is a proprietary language, as opposed to something like Java or C++, which are more portable. They recommended that businesses consider their own development frameworks, time frames, needs and resources before choosing ColdFusion. The publisher and editor of this newsletter feel that this concern is misplaced, as ColdFusion is faster to write than Java or C and many other businesses have decided that it being a "proprietary" language means nothing. Every programming language is a proprietary language, by its very nature.
