Browser-Based Image Editor Now Available From Ektron

Jul 19, 2003
July 28, 2003 -- Ektron announced a new product, WebImageFX. This first-of-its-kind, business-user-friendly, browser-based image editor allows anyone with a Web browser to access, edit and manage images, photos, or other graphics using a full depth of features. Ektron's browser-based tool delivers functionality similar to commonly used Windows-based graphics applications, and is designed for integration into any dynamic Web application server environment. Ektron WebImageFX simplifies image viewing and editing by replacing the need for a separate client-based image editor. This tool ships in Ektron CMS300, an easy-to-use, scalable browser-based XML content management system (see article below.)

With Ektron WebImageFX, developers enable users to edit an image, either as a stand-alone image or while viewing the image within the context of surrounding content. If working within a content management system or other application, the user selects the image from within existing content, then edits it directly via the browser using Ektron WebImageFX's numerous editing options.

Ektron WebImageFX is immediately available at www.ektron.com. It is now offered as an integrated component of Ektron eWebEditPro and eWebEditPro+XML, the market-leading, browser-based business-user-friendly editors. It is also offered in Ektron's family of feature-rich, scaleable Web content management systems. Ektron will soon ship WebImageFX as a stand-alone product, making it available for quick, easy deployment in any Web site or browser-based application.

"The opportunity to edit images in the browser offers tremendous advantages, especially for business users. None of today's graphics editors are browser-based, and no CMS package offers the unique capabilities of Ektron WebImageFX," says Ektron CEO Bill Rogers. "With WebImageFX, end-users can quickly add or edit images directly while working in a Web page. This approach to 'inline' image manipulation saves headaches, time and money because users avoid moving back and forth between content and a client-based editor. WebImageFX is one more example of Ektron bringing content management to a new level."

Ektron anticipates widespread adoption of this product among thousands of companies now using Ektron eWebEditPro and eWebEditPro+XML. Today, these components are bundled into more bought and built content management systems than any other editing tool, including via Ektron's OEM and integration partnerships with Microsoft, Documentum, Interwoven, Vignette, and others.
