SuSE Upgrades Enterprise Server Software
November 25, 2003 -- SuSE announced that Enterprise users can now download an update of SuSE Linux's AG enterprise server software that offers improved hardware support and enhanced storage access. Service Pack Three of SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 8 includes a new version of the kernel, kernel 2.4.21, which is capable of managing up to 2,000 physical hard disks as compared to 600 disks in the last version. SuSE is also distributing a free version of its operating system software, SuSE Linux 9. The free downloadable version includes the entire operating system but does not have some of the applications that come with the commercial version, such as Macromedia Flash, which can't be included due to licensing restrictions.
