CF in the News

While reviewing the news coverage of the ColdFusion MX 7 release, I was happy to see the amount of venues that discussed it, but rather disappointed at the quality. Most of them were simply the same article or two rehashed again and again and again. Nothing new -- just shared content on multiple sites. There was the CNET/ZDNET article, which was really a brief summary of features in about two paragraphs. The Newsfactor Network was at least a meatier article, with a philosophical viewpoint, looking at where the industry is going and how ColdFusion fits in. Macromedia's press release (echoed in ColdFusion Developer's Journal and Businesswire) also had lots of quotes from ColdFusion customers, including one by Rob Brooks-Bilson, a major ColdFusion name. eWeek's article was basically a listing of features and pricing.

The majority of the coverage I've seen focused more on ColdFusion's new mobility features than on other aspects, such as forms, printing and reporting. While the latter features were mentioned in many articles, the focus of the articles were on Macromedia's push for mobile technology in ColdFusion.

I do have to hand it to ColdFusion Developer's Journal and Simon Horwith. Not only did Sys-Con do a radio interview with Dave Gruber, Senior Product Manager for ColdFusion, where he announced the ColdFusion MX 7 release, but CFDJ ran a group of technical articles focused on CFMX 7 and written by Macromedia's ColdFusion team. All of this came out on the day of the release. Nice job!

Now that you've had the recap, you deserve the list of URLs to give you a better idea of what's come out since the release of CFMX 7 on Monday, February 7th.
