PC World Iffy on Studio 8

Some people just can't make up their minds. Take Dennis O'Reilly from PC World, who gives Macromedia Studio 8 mixed reviews. In both articles below, he says that many of the changes in Studio are not to the individual applications, but to things like tighter integration between the different apps and improved links to databases and other resources. So if you work primarily in only one of the big name applications (Flash, Fireworks or Dreamweaver), you may not want to shell out the $399 to upgrade Studio.

But then he says that "tighter links between the apps themselves, better integration with other Web technologies, and the addition of the Contribute and FlashPaper apps could be sufficient reason for Web shops large and small to find the new suite worth the price."

So which is it, Mr. O'Reilly?

Personally, I think Flash 8's new video capabilities and Dreamweaver's CSS are reason enough to upgrade. And the fact that they've made it easier to find everything in Studio makes it a no-brainer. How much is your time worth, Mr. O'Reilly? Mine is worth at least $399.
