Mar 06, 2000

Allaire has announced plans for new products or improvements in five areas: application servers, packaged applications, visual tools, Web systems management, and business-to-business integration. New products are built on ColdFusion, but also integrate Allaire's new Java acquisitions.

JRun 3.0 will be released in the second quarter, and will be based on the Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) spec. The next version of Spectra will be released in the fourth quarter of this year, and will include support for more customer interaction services. (See article on acquisition of Open Sesame).

New products forthcoming:

  1. Code Name "Pharaoh": a new version of ColdFusion running on a Java app server that will include support for CFML, JSP, as well as JRun and will be backward compatible to older versions of ColdFusion. Release Time: First quarter of next year.
  2. Code Name "Harvest": a systems management tool designed for enterprise environments with multiple servers. Release Time: First quarter of next year.
  3. Code Name "Tron": A Business to Business integration server that uses XML to exchange information between businesses.
