Applying MVC to Web-Based Applications with Generic Views

Dec 27, 2003

Here's an article that is easy to read and digest, even though its subject is not so simple. I'm talking about "Applying MVC to Web-Based Applications with Generic Views," which does a great job of explaining how to apply the Model-View-Controller design paradigm to a web-based project. The author builds a simple project consisting of several JSP Views, and shows that if properly written, a controller in an MVC application will "channel request data and invoke action calls for any type and number of views." Then one can easily apply the same controller to any project, and generate as many views as the project needs.

Though this article uses Java as its programming language du jour, I felt the clarity of the writing and explanation of MVC in action made the article worth mentioning. The article also makes a small mention of Fusebox as an example of MVC applied to different Web technologies, such as ColdFusion, Java, PHP, ASP and Lasso.
