However, this discussion should not focus on the name of the person who did this. If Michael and I find out who it is, we have already said that we will cut him off from any access to the ColdFusion lists on HOF. And even if we knew his name, making it public does not, in my opinion, accomplish anything except ruin his reputation. People can change and perhaps this person would have a change of heart and regret his actions. Lack of access to the lists is, in and of itself, punitive, and gossip cannot be undone and should only be used as a last resort.
As a community, we can take action, but we should not be motivated by thoughts of revenge. We should work to build and maintain resources from which everyone can benefit, and yes, we should throw out the bad apples when we find them. But let's try to grow from this in a positive direction. In the next few weeks, Michael and I will be putting up a survey on Fusion Authority about the different resources we run. Ideas have been put forward on how to improve the lists and make them friendlier to all concerned. We are in the process of formulating the survey now, so any ideas/suggestions you have that you would like to propose for the survey should be sent to me, with the word "survey" somewhere in the subject line. The results of this survey will be made public to the community, and will be used for improvements on Fusion Authority and House of Fusion.
